Workshop Visual Supports: What Else Can They Do?

Are you a parent or caregiver of an adolescent or adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder?

This workshop will discuss the various uses of visual supports for individuals with ASD. Most people are familiar with using visual supports to teach communication development for non-verbal individuals (e.g., picture exchange, PECS) and to create schedules, but this workshop will include information on how to use visual supports to:

  • Increase functional communication, develop language, and refine conversation skills;
  • Support social development and interactions;
  • Increase understanding of words, directions, and behavioural expectations; and
  • Facilitate personal independence within daily living and pre-vocational skills.
